19th Century Advertising Cards

Advertising is nothing new. "Advertise", said P.T. Barnum, or the sherlff will do it for you. 11 Trade Cards were the 'want makers" of grandfather's day and the boys from Madison Ave. ( or wherever it was then, ) were just as careless with the truth as they are today. These cares caught the eye and the imagination and everybody wanted them. Father liked the risque pictures and stories on the tobacco and tavern cards , mother was interested in seeing the latest, and the children collected for their Scrap Books.
