Up for auction is a late 20s thru 1930s era tenor guitar. I am not possitive of the maker, but I think it is a Slingerland May Bell, or a Regal or Harmony. This guitar sounds and plays absolutely fantastic. The top on this I am pretty sure is Adirondack spruce (it is solid), which is 4 ply bound, as is the sound hole. Back and sides are solid birch. The body is 100% crack free, except for a 3" hairline on the back running up from the bottom that has been sealed. The neck is laser straight with excellent frets on an ebony fingerboard and has a perfect and tight neck set angle, and this plays effortlessly with super low action. The original tuners (one was replaced) are in great condition and work well. The nut was replaced as was the fret style saddle and bridge pins. The original finish shows wear, checking, and flaking (mostly on the back and sides). The lower bout width is about 11 14", upper bout 7 7/8", nut width is 1 1/8", and the scale lenght is about 21 1/2". The original trap door case is pretty good. Shipping prices will vary, figure about 25.00 insured USPS Priority close to New York, and up to 45.00 to the west coast, w/ insurance. The guitar is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Check out the other parlor and tenor guitar from this era I have listed!!!!SOLD WITH NO RESERVE!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
