Japanese Block Plane (Kanna)This is a great addition for woodworkers of all skill levels. Designed to work with one hand much like a Western style block plane ( in reverse ). It is a âeoepull planeâe which allows for greater control while planing. The beauty of the Japanese plane is the simplicity of design. Made up of only a few parts, the body (Dai), the blade, and the chip-breaker. The blade is laminated with the cutting edge made of high carbon White steel. The blade is tempered to Rc65. The blade is set to 47.5° for hardwoods and highly figured woods. This plane has a 1 11/16âe (42-mm) wide slot. The cutting edge is 1 7/16âe (37-mm) and the overall length is 6âe (152-mm).
