Hardcover in black cloth with title in gilt on front board and spine. Gilt is worn on the spine. Rubbing on boards and some of the gilt shown uneven fading or wear. Rear board shows a patterned cloth. Spine is sunned, shows rubbing and soiling. Light toning at edges of pages. The story of the love child of Warren Harding.Nan Britton ( 1896-1991 ) was the mistress of Warren Harding from the time that he was a Senator in Ohio until his death during his presidency in 1923. She had a daughter by Harding in 1919 , Elizabeth Ann Britton , and the publication of this book made it public. Unfortunately, she could never definitively prove Harding's paternity, and the daughter never tried to have a paternity test done. Of course, this book caused a sensation when it was first published. Nan Britton died in 1991, and her daughter, who had adopted Harding's last name, married in 1938 and died in 2005. She never had the tests done, but in 2015 genetic testing through AncestryDNA proved that Harding was indeed the father of Elizabeth Ann."Dedication "this Book is dedicated with understanding and love to all unwedded mothers, and to their innocent children whose fathers are usually not known
